This past weekend I have been adjusting to being back in Santiago. I have unpacked all my things at my new student housing here. There's only 4 other people here and they all seem pretty nice. I think it is going to be a positive change being around people who are closer to my age. It's also nice to have internet again and be able to stay in better contact with people from home. This new place is only 2 metro stops from my old home, so I also don't feel too lost.
Today I had my interview with Nuestra Casa, a homeless shelter here in Santiago. I feel fortunate to be able to have traveled the past couple weeks; however, I want to get back to work as soon as I can. I came to South America to do something meaningful and I want to have a job. The interview went fine, except they can only offer me 22 hours a week. I don't want a lot days off, I want to work at least 40 hours a week. Since I am running out of time it doesn't seem like I will be able to find job somewhere else. So, I suggested that my program allows me to work at my old preschool on the days I don't work at Nuestra Casa. I miss the children a lot and I am excited to see them again; however, it is frustratubg that this is how my program has turned out. I am only going to be at Nuestra Casa for a month so I hope to work hard to be able to see the depths of their organization.
