A New Year, A New Term

Happy New Year! Currently I'm sitting at my desk in my dorm room after spending the day driving back to campus from Berkeley. My journey started at 8 AM this morning when my dad loaded our family's Suburu Outback with my luggage. I gave my adorable seven year-old brother Nathan one last hug, kissed my mom goodbye with my paper bag lunch in hand and eagerly ran down our front steps ready to hit the road. Of course, no road trip has truly started without a preliminary run to Starbucks. After picking up my usual grande soy chai latte my dad and I headed towards Fairfield, where we would be meeting my friend Bella with all her stuff at a truck stop. Once we picked up Bella, the chit chat immediately began with a review of what each of us had been up to over break. After our stop in Fairfield, we had a straight shot up I-5 to Redding where we would be meeting up with my friend Catherine and her boyfriend Mike to continue the rest of the journey. After a relatively uneventful drive back to Eugene, my eyes are weary and I am eager for a good night's sleep. My alarm clock is set. My class scheduled is printed. My backpack is ready to go. Bring it on, winter term!
